Laura A. Hurst

Laura A. Hurst, 77, of Niles, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman, after a heroic struggle with multiple illnesses.

Laura was born May 29, 1946 in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter to Peter and Mary “Minnie” (Carbon) Joy.

She was a graduate of Girard High School and after high school attended Ohio State University and Youngstown State University.

Laura worked for McKinley Bank in Niles, Ohio for many years and would later retire from the state of Ohio working in the job training program in the Ohio Department of Development.

Laura loved nothing more than being with her family and friends. In the winter months in recent years she would spend her time in Florida. Laura loved her cat Lubey, whom she leaves behind.

Laura leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Peter Joy (Rebecca Dresser) of MO; brother-in-law Michael Lareau; niece, Michele Delisle; nephew, Mark Lareau (Michelle Phenix); a great grandniece, Renee Delisle; and many close friends whose company she held dear.

Along with her parents Laura is preceded in death by her sister, Frances Lareau.

In accordance with Laura’s wishes there will be no services.

Laura will be laid to rest at Niles City Cemetery with her family. A memorial celebration of Laura’s life will follow in the coming months.
