William J. Welsh (“Bill”), 92, of Niles, formerly of Girard, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio. Bill was born on June 4, 1925 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late John J. and Anna (Billock) Welsh. Beloved husband for twenty-five years to Janice Gorsuch (née Chalette) and for thirty-seven years to the late Lillian (née Troiano), Bill was preceded in death by his parents and by sisters Dorothy, Shirley, and Rita. Survivors include his wife Janice, children, Elaine (Tim) and Bill , stepchildren Frank (Jan) and Vicki, grandchildren Tim, Tessa, and William, step grandchildren Whitney, Ashley, Poppy (Foster), Chelsea (Darrell) and Garrett, step great grandchildren, a step great great granddaughter, and brother Bob. Bill graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and attended Youngstown State University. A veteran, Bill served in the Army during World War II as an x-ray technician. Bill loved God, and was a member of the Church Hill United Methodist Church. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed golfing, singing, and whistling. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 2nd, 11:00 AM at Church Hill United Methodist Church in Liberty Twp, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
