Agnes Schnarrs

Agnes Schnarrs, 94, of Girard, peacefully passed away on Thursday,  May 30, 2024 at Antonine Village. 

Agnes was born November 24, 1929 in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter to the late Michael and Mildred (Mikaluti) Blazina.

Her career journey was marked by dedication and commitment, starting at New York Life, then serving at Chanute Airforce Base, and ultimately retiring from Peoples Bank. 

Outside of work, Agnes found joy in various hobbies and interests. She delighted in the thrill of bingo games, cherished the adventures of traveling to Florida with her late husband Alvin during winter months, found excitement in visiting casinos, and savored the peaceful moments spent putting together puzzles. Above all else, Agnes treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren, showering them with love and wisdom.

Agnes was a member of St. Rose Church and former member of the Girard Old Timers Club.

Agnes is survived by her loving sons: Michael (Nanette) Schnarrs of Cortland, Ron (Mary) Schnarrs of Girard, Rick (Sue) Schnarrs of Swansboro, NC, and Kevin (Barb) Schnarrs of Vienna. Her legacy continues through her dear grandchildren; Jessica, Nicole, Matthew, Jamie, Stephanie, Kyle, and Brittany; and great grandchildren, Owen, Liam, Harper, Kellen, Finley, Cooper, Juliana and Paisley.

Agnes is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Schnarrs; brothers, David, Larry, Rudolph, Joseph, Michael and Matthew Blazina; and sisters, Ann Picchock, Helen Stroub, Barbara Horvatich and Margaret Blazina.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 4th, 10:00 AM at St. Rose Church in Girard. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, June 3rd, 5-7 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.

Agnes will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery next to her husband. 

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Antonine Village: 2675 N. Lipkey Rd, North Jackson, Ohio 44451.

The family would like to thank Antonine Village and Traditions Hospice for the care and compassion that was given to Agnes.
