Amy Lynn (Beamer) Barr, 66, died suddenly on May 7, 2022, in her residence in Arlington, VA. Amy was born and raised in Girard, OH. Only child of Howard and Pauline (Coleman) Beamer, she spent her youth as an active Girl Scout and school marching band member. Amy was a graduate of Girard High School in 1973.
Amy was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, Girard Assembly #176 serving in many offices including secretary. Amy was a 48-year member of theSunrise Chapter Order of Eastern Star #458.
In adulthood, Amy was an analyst for the federal government’s immigration department, and a dedicated member of Clarendon United Methodist Church for over 40 years, where she was a member of the church choir.
Her husband, Richard L. Barr, preceded her in death on September 22, 2021. Amy was also a devoted volunteer with the Arlington County Police Department for 20 years. She leaves behind a goddaughter, Christyna M. Hunter, of Lovettsville, VA.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26 from 4-8 PM at Murphy Funeral Homes, located at 4510 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA 22203. Funeral services will be held May 27, 2022 at 10 AM at Clarendon United Methodist Church.
