Anna Johntony

Anna Johntony, 93, of New Castle, Pa., formerly of Girard, passed away on Monday December 22, 2014 at Haven Convalescent Home in New Castle, Pa.  Anna was born September 16, 1921 in Italy, the daughter of Arthur and Maria Cafaro.  She had worked for Cherry's Top O' The Mall in Eastwood Mall for many years.  She was a member of St. Rose Church, where she volunteered for the school cafeteria.  Anna was a member of Mt. Carmel Society and enjoyed playing bingo. Anna is survived by her children; Rosemary (Ken) Siegel of New Castle, Pa., Mary Jane (Richard) Merrill of Michigan, Theresa (John) SottoSanti of California and John (Mary Sue) Johntony of New Castle, Pa. and ten grandchildren.  Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Johntony, whom she married April 1, 1950 and died December 20, 1986, her  sister Theresa Cafaro and a grandson.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 29th, 11:00 AM at St. Rose Church, preceded by a prayer service at 10:30 AM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 2-5PM at the funeral home.  Anna will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery.  Visit www.blackstonefuneralhome.com to view this obituary and to send any condolences to the family.
