Armand A Carusone

Armand A. Carusone, 89, of Girard, passed away on Sunday November 16, 2014 at his residence.  Armand was born November 11, 1925 in Bellona, Italy, a son of the late Pietro and Matilde Lemberti Carusone,           and came to the United States as a young boy in 1927. Armand worked for Taylor-Winfield in Warren for 35 years as a machine wiring electrician, working as a foreman, and retiring in 1990.  Throughout his life, he worked on many homes in the area doing electrical work. He was a member of St. Rose Church, Knights of Columbus, the I.T.A.M. Club and the V.F.W. of Girard.  He enjoyed golfing, gardening and bowling, and worked after retirement as a golf starter for 14 years, working last a Squaw Creek Country Club. Armand served his country during WWII in the U.S.Navy and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.  He is survived by his children; Peter Carusone of West Middlesex, PA., Daniel Carusone of Girard, David Carusone of Girard, Melinda Carusone of Girard and Joan Bruno of Girard, his grandchildren; Phillip, Sabrina, Nicole, Kristine and Danielle, and a brother Americo Carusone of Cincinnati. Armand is preceded in death by his wife, the former,  Leonilda "Nilda" Gelsomino, whom he married June 19, 1948 and died June 6, 2014, his brothers; Rafael, Caesare, Genaro and Benito Carusone and his sisters; Rosa Mansuco and Amelia Angilecchia.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 21st, 11:00 AM  at St. Rose Church, preceded by a 10:30 AM  prayer service at  Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 5-8PM at the funeral home.  Armand will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery with military honors.
