Barbara Maysak

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, McDonald, OH on Monday, February 24, 10:00 A.M. for Barbara Maysak.  Barbara passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at the Williamsport Retirement Village in Williamsport, MD. Barbara was a longtime resident of McDonald, OH. She was born January 11, 1919 in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of Charles and Anna Neral Maysak. Barbara was a loving homemaker and caregiver for friends and family and especially beloved by the many children she cared for tirelessly and joyfully. She was very proud of her work and contributions to local war efforts during WWll and was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.  Barbara's key to a long life was a smile on her face, a story to share, a good piece of candy and an extra teaspoon of sugar in her cherry pop.  In 2011, following the death of her last surviving sister, Barbara moved to Maryland to be near her brother and his family. She is survived by her brother John and his wife Anne of Hagerstown, MD, nephews and nieces John E. Maysak of Chevy Chase, MD, Kara Morgenstern (Lewis) of Ann Arbor, MI, Paul Maysak (Leslie) of Washington, DC, Mary Jurgens (Jay) of Gaithersburg, MD, and Susan Maysak of Hagerstown, MD, two great-nieces and four great-nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, and three sisters, Mary Gonda, Theresa Maysak and Margaret Maysak.
The Maysak family will greet friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 23 at the Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard, OH.  On Monday a prayer service will be held 9:30 A.M. at the funeral home prior to the Mass. Barbara will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
