Beatrice L. Matuszwski

Beatrice L. Matuszwski, 96, of Girard, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home, with her loving family by her side. Bea was born March 9, 1929 in Niles, Ohio, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Knaus) Umeck. Bea had worked as a beautician for many years, and for most of her life she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of St. Rose Church, Catholic Women's Club, Slovenian National Benefit Society (SNPJ) and a former member of the Girard Junior Women's Club. She enjoyed baking, cooking, camping, reading, traveling and dancing with her husband. She cherished holidays, birthdays and special occasions and made each an every event special and memorable. Most of all she enjoyed her life with her beloved husband, children grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Karla (Ming Hua) Cheng, Lori (Howard) Ulicny-Smith, and Saundra (BJ) Farr; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Bea is preceded in death by her husband of almost 70 years, John R. Matuszwski, whom she married February 19, 1955 and died January 13, 2025; sisters, Patty Umeck, Alice Cernich, and Roseann Cherne; and brothers, Joseph Umeck, William Umeck and Edward Umeck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 17th, 12:00 PM at St. Rose Church, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:30 AM until the time of mass.
