Benny Johntony

January 18, 1927 — March 8, 2016

Benny Johntony, (Benito DiGiovannantonio), 89, of Girard, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Benny was born January 18, 1927 in Formicola, Italy, the son of Giovanni and Rosa Cervone DiGiovannantonio. He came to the United States in 1947. He had worked as a tool and die maker for several companies and retired in 1992 from General Motors. Benny leaves  his wife of 61 years, the love of his life, Maria Arzillo, whom he married September 26, 1954. His children; Rose (Dennis) DeChant, John (Toni), Frank (Renee), Anthony and Robert (Dottie). His grandchildren; Stephanie (Doug), Joshua, Evan, Laura, Olivia, Benjamin, Kristen, Nicole, Matthew, Phillip (Jennifer), Andrew, Daniel, his great-grandson Parker and soon to arrive baby brother, and the family dog, his little buddy, Luke. He was a godly man of great integrity and character and a member of Pleasant Valley Evangelical Church. He found joy in spending time with family and friends as well as gardening, music and playing the piano. He had a passion for people to know the love of Christ and His saving grace. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.  Friends and family will be received on Friday, March 11th, at Blackstone Funeral Home from 4:00 - 6:30 PM with a funeral service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Compassion International, a ministry that supports impoverished children.
