Bernice J. (Mikacivich) Kren

Bernice J. Kren, 83, of Girard, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Continuing Health Care Center. Bernice was born May 16, 1935, in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Mike and Sophie (Bucan) Mikacivich. She worked for Warren General Hospital in the surgical department for 19 years. She was a member of St. Rose Church and the SNPJ Lodge #643, of Girard. Bernice enjoyed listening to Croatian music and dancing to polkas. She was an avid Indian's, Brown's and Cavalier fan of Cleveland and the Ohio State Buckeye's. She and her husband Joe, enjoyed traveling, going to Geneva-On-The-Lake on Sunday's and the casino's. Bernice was a great cook and always had a smile on her face. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Joseph Kren, whom she married January 24, 1976 and renewed her vows on February 9, 2012 at St. Rose Church, her sons; Billy Gantar of Girard, Greg Gantar, of Joshua Tree, CA., Jerry (Tracy) Gantar, of Fallon, NV., and Jimmy Gantar, of Woodland, CA, sisters; Kitty Woods of McDonald and Terri Linton, of Northfield, Ohio, grandchildren; Carlie, Danielle, Justin, Michael and Sarah, and two great-grandchildren. Besides her parents,she is preceded in death by her brother George Bucan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 7, 11:00 AM at St. Rose Church, preceded by a prayer service at 10:30 AM, at Blackstone Funeral Home. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Bernice will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery.
