Carelyn A. (Kvesich) Carney

November 24, 1923 — February 27, 2018

Carelyn Ann (Kvesich) Carney, age 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 27. 2018, at Windsor House at Liberty Healthcare Center in Youngstown, OH. She was born November 24, 1923, in Warren, OH, to Joseph and Helen (Hychrowska) Kvesich.  A 1942 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, she married Edward Carney on November 19, 1960 at St. James church in Warren. Carelyn graduated from Youngstown Business College and went on to work as a bookkeeper for local businesses including the Warren Tribune, where she was the first woman to work in that capacity in the paper’s history, and eventually for the family’s businesses in Girard, Starr Realty and Top Pro Sports.  She was a trooper, having survived multiple cross-country treks in the family station wagon, many harrowing rides on sweltering days Cedar Point, countless baseball and football games, track meets, science-fairs and the like.  Always a care-giver, Carelyn provided love and support for many friends and relatives who preceded her including her parents, husband, brother Henry Kvesich, and her aunt Gerry Sabat.  Also preceding her were brothers George and Edward (Dorothy) Kvesich and niece Susan Kvesich.  She is survived by her children, Chris (Cindy) Carney, Marie Carney-Hossfeld (Robert Hossfeld), step-daughter Karen Rowbottom, grandchildren; Olivia Carney, Victoria Carney, Nathaniel Sunshine, Benjamin Sunshine, Lincoln Hossfeld, Solomon Gunyula, and Michal DiRocco, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Windsor House for the love and care they showed Carelyn.  Family, friends, and others whose lives Carelyn touched are invited to St. Rose Church in Girard on Friday, March 2, 2018 for visitation at 10:00AM, and mass at 11:00AM, followed immediately by lunch in the Rosette Hall at the church.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on Carelyn’s behalf to the Alzheimer’s Association at https://www.alz.org .
