Carl V. Demas, 92, of McKinley Heights., passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home, in Niles. Carl was born April 15, 1924 in Harding, West Virginia, the son of Dominic and Maggie (Orsine) Demas. He served his country in the US Coast Guard during WWII in the Pacific Theater of Operations and received a Citation for duty in the Philippines. Carl worked for 30 years as an electrician for Youngstown Brier Hill Sheet and Tube Co. He was a member of St. Rose Church, Girard IFH Club, SNJP Lodge and the VFW. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 68 years, Mary (Brutka) DeMas, whom he married August 7, 1948, his children; Sharon Shuto of Girard, Susan Hawkins of Niles and Michael (Alice) Demas of Niles, five grandchildren; Heather (Tom) Hudak, Hollee (Eric) Campbell, Robert (Cara) Hawkins, Kate (Matt) Miller and Steven (Fiancee Mary Ann) Tackett and five great-grandchildren; Max, Alex, Zach, Amelia and Owen. He is preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Templeman and brothers; James, Beck, John "Tiger", and infant brother William Demas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 29th, 1:30 PM at St. Rose Church. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 5-8 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.
