Carmel Scarbrough, 84, of McDonald, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Saturday January 31, 2015. She was born September 8, 1930 in Girard, Ohio, the daughter of the late Rocco and Regetta DiTomasso Gelsomino. Carmel worked at Strouss Department Store in Youngstown for 20 years retiring in 1985. She graduated from Girard High School in 1948 and was a member of the Dewitt McConnell American Legion Post 235 in Girard. Carmel loved to play poker, bingo and slot machines. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Denise (Nelma) Scarbrough of Warren, Regetta "Ricci" (Don) Heasley of Girard and Darlene (Gregory) Landolfi of Poland, sister, Mary (Edward) Rice of Girard, granddaughters, Carlie (Paul) Sohayda and Terra Donnelly, grandsons, Brett (Misty) Scarbrough, Richard Rubaner and Gregory Landolfi, great-grandchildren, Richard Jr., Alisha, Ameer, Ziad, Keaton, Cole Eva, Brett Jr., JayDen, Emma and McKenna. She was preceded in death by her husband Talmadge "Snake" Cross Scarbrough whom she married September 26, 1952 and passed away September 8, 2007, son, Douglas Earl Scarbrough, sisters, Pauline Gelsomini, Alice Congemi and Lucy Forte, brother, Carmen Gelsomino. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday February 3, 2015 at 7:00 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home. Family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 5:00 pm till time of service.
