Carmella (Micklas) Santisi

Westerville, Ohio- Carmella Santisi, 90, formerly from Girard, OH and West Middlesex, PA, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, 4/21/19, surrounded by family. Born January 27, 1929, to the late Sam Micklas (Salvatore Micalizzi) and Frances Micklas (Galose) both of Girard, Ohio, Carmella was a graduate of Girard High School, Class of 1945.  After High School, she attended business school and worked for Republic Steel Corporation in the Accounting Department. Carmella devoted her life to her husband of 64 years, Anthony A. Santisi, and raised their four children: John, Sam, Mary Frances, and Anthony. She was also a caregiver to both her parents and her aunt, the late Christina Galose.
Carmella took up the game of Golf in her late 50’s and proudly scored her first hole-in-one at the age of 75! She had 2 more hole-in-ones to follow, for a career total of 3!  She was a member of Oak Tree Country Club and the Women’s Interclub team. She enjoyed sports and watching tennis, basketball, football, and OSU hockey. Carmella was a devout Catholic throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 yrs., Anthony A. Santisi, as well as her parents, Sam and Frances Micklas. Carmella will be missed by her 4 children, John Santisi (Georgia); Sam Santisi (Donna); Mary Frances Ebeling (Eric); Anthony Santisi; and her 7 grandchildren, as well as 4 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jeffrey Milks, the staff at Personal MD of New Albany, Ohio; her caregivers Kendra and Mikayla Parks; the staff of The Grand in Dublin, Ohio-especially her nurse-Anita Johnson; and finally, Dr. Howard Slemons of Hubbard, Ohio. Collectively, they gave Carmella the exemplary care and attention that she so richly deserved. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Patty Coughlin for her continued support and friendship to Carmella and her family.
Calling hours will be held prior to the Mass at St. Rose Church in Girard, Ohio at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, April 25th. Mass to follow calling hours promptly at noon.
