Catherine A Fisher

Catherine A. Fisher, of Lordstown, formerly of Warren, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at home following an extended illness. She was 96.

Catherine was born at home in Girard, Ohio, on January 1, 1918, the daughter of William & Erma (Shively) Governor.

A 1936 graduate of Vienna High School, she worked as a Bus Driver for the Niles City School System and as a Waitress for Alberini’s Italian Restaurant, Niles.

In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and cheering on the Cleveland Indians. She especially loved her family, grandchildren, and her beloved cat “stripes”.

She is survived by her children, William Powell & his wife Rosemarie, Liberty Twp., Erma Jean Garner, Cleveland, Ohio, and Candace Miller & her husband Donald, Lordstown; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was her 1st husband, Howard Powell, who died in 1997; her 2nd husband, William Fisher, who died in 2011; her daughter, Elizabeth Porter, who died in 1985; and her grandson, William H. Powell, who died in 1990.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, September 27, 2014, from 10-12 PM at the Blackstone Funeral Home, Girard, where a funeral service will begin at 12 noon.
