Charles J Richards

Charles J. Richards, 80, of Canfield, formerly of Girard passed away on Friday October 3, 2014 at Sunrise of Poland in Poland, Ohio.  Charles was born January 6, 1934 in Girard, the son of Charles Richards and Victoria Zebrak Richards McCloud. He was  a U.S. Navy veteran and served during the Korean War. Charles retired from WCI, formerly Republic Steel, in Warren as a heavy equipment operator. He worked there for almost 41 years. While living in Girard, he was a member of St. Rose Church and a  member of the United Steel Workers Union. Charles was an avid golfer and belonged to many golf leagues during his life.  He was also a hugh Notre Dame football fan. He leaves his wife, the former, Elaine J. Augustine, whom he married November 8, 1954, his children; Mark Richards, Chris Richards of Girard and Shayla Ricciardi (Richards) of Orlando, Fl, sister; Marguerite Bluedorn of Girard, stepsister; Sally McCloud Drevet and granddaughter Jennifer.  Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother; Michael Richards, his step-father; Daniel McCloud, stepbrother; Don McCloud, and stepsister Mary Pat McCloud Donnelly.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday October 7th, 11:00 AM at St. Rose Church preceded by a prayer service at 10:30 AM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.  Friends and family will be received on Monday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.  Charles will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery with military honors.
