Cora H Smail

Cora H. Smail, 98, of Girard, died June 17, 2012. She was born November 26, 1913 in Hubbard, daughter of Giles & Mabel Hirst Smail. She was married to Leroy W. Smail, September 28, 1933 until his death in September, 1971.  She worked at the Mahoning Country Club in 1952 until she retired in 2000.  She was the central hub of all family activity and her house was the setting for vast memories of holidays, birthdays, and Uno parties.  She gave love freely.  She would be proud of everyone in her family and actively engaged in their lives.  She was a great inquisitor: always asking "where are you going, what will you be doing and who will you be with? She loved to travel and see the USA.  She is survived by her daughters, Evelyn of Indiana, Carol (Bill) of Mineral Ridge, sons, Melvin of Las Vegas and Allan (Betty) of South Dakota, nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leroy, a daughter, Jean L. Owen and her siblings, Myrtle, Elizabeth, Mary, Mabel, Gertrude, Russell, Eddy and Harmon.  Funeral Services will be held on Friday June 22, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Blackstone Funeral Home.  Family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 6-8 PM at funeral home.  Interment will be held at Girard City Cemetery.  Visit www.blackstonesfh.com to view this obituary and send condolences to the Smail family.
