David C. Hall passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017. David was the son of the late Marilla Patterson and the late Leonard Charles Hall of Girard, Ohio. David married Amy Lou Eleanor Heasley on May 13th, 1950. David leaves behind his loving wife, Amy Lou, daughter, Ginger Hall, son, Scott and (Karen) Hall and son-in-law, Rick Reese. David also leaves behind three grandsons: Ryan Hall, Timothy and (Chelsea) Hall, Patrick and (Symantha) Hall and three granddaughters: Lauren Hall, Carly Reese, and Annie Reese, along with two great-granddaughters: Amelia Lou Hall and Rylen Rae Hall. David was preceded in death by his brother Ivan Hall and daughter Barbara Reese.
Dave and Amy are members of The First Christian Church in Girard. David’s mom, Marilla said she took him to church when he was one week old, and he is the oldest member of the First Christian Church.
David played football on the Girard Varsity Football Team as their running quarterback and was offered a full-ride scholarship to play college football at the University of Alabama.
David enlisted in the United States Army Air Force in 1942 becoming a Flight Commander Captain Pilot and flew hundreds of missions with the 4th Combat Cargo Command in Burma, India and China. After WWII, David graduated with a Mechanical Engineering Degree from Youngstown State University. He soon became self-employed and started his own company as David C. Hall & Associates, Consulting Engineers. David specialized in Heating and Air Conditioning commercially throughout seven different states and overseas. Currently holding two active licenses in Ohio and Florida. David also enjoyed politics, being voted 2nd Ward Councilman for four consecutive terms. Twice, he ran for Mayor of Girard and is currently the City Engineer. David and Amy have done extensive traveling throughout the United States and Europe. They have been happily married for the past 67 years and enjoy summers at their cottage on Lake Erie in Madison and wintering in their Fort Myers, Florida residence.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 15th, 1:00 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Committal services will follow at Girard City Cemetery with military honors.
