Deborah J. Hunkus, 59, of Liberty Twp., passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at Autumn Hills, with her family by her side. Debbie was born April 2, 1959, in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Emidio and Ivory (McGinnis) DiPiero. Debbie was a graduate of Liberty High School and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts
from Youngstown State University. She owned and operated Not Just Graphics, in which she made wedding invitations and wrote beautiful calligraphy. Debbie also enjoyed painting watercolors and making beaded crosses, which she donated for numerous fundraisers. Debbie was a member and eucharistic minister of St. Edward's Church.
Besides her mother, she leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 33 years, Ronald J. Hunkus, whom she married August 25, 1984, her children; Ronald T. Hunkus, Madison E. Hunkus, and Logan A. Hunkus and her brothers, Edward (Texye) DiPiero of Houston, Texas and David (Patty) DiPiero of Ft. Myers, Florida. Debbie is preceded in death by her father.
Her family would like to give special thanks to her team of doctors at the Cleveland Clinic, who treated Deborah throughout the past 14 years. Along with the nurses and therapists at Hillside Hospital and Autumn Hills. The family would also like to recognize her incredible friends and family who assisted Debbie to numerous appointments and daily mass services, as well as their endless prayers and support. Anyone that came in contact with Debbie, knew that she had a kind heart, strong faith, and loved everyone. Lastly, a special thanks to Monsignor Siffrin, and the St. Edward’s congregation for the countless prayers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 5th, 12:00 PM at St. Edward's Church, where family and friends may pay their respects from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Debbie will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery.
