Donald E. Betts

Donald E. Betts, 92, of Boardman, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Don was born September 16, 1925 in Carbondale, Illinois, the son of Charles and Martha (Gurley) Betts. Don retired from GF Business Equipment in 1988 as a steelworker. He served his country in the U.S.  Army during WWII. He was a member of Girard First United Methodist Church, and was a former member of the Saxon Club and the American Legion. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Marjorie( Edwards) Betts, whom he married November 2, 1948, his children, Donald R. Betts of Warren, Barbara Novotny of Huntingdon, Tenn., and Penny (Matt) Hannon of Boardman, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Don is preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Ray, Harold and Vernon. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 12th, 11:00 AM at Girard First United Methodist Church where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
