Donald J. Boughner, 79, of McDonald passed away on Friday, October 3, 2014 after an extended illness.  Don let go and let God take him to his heavenly home where his daughter, family and friends were waiting for him.  He was born September 3, 1935 in Youngstown, the son of Charles and Julia Reagan Boughner. Part of his early years, Don resided at the Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Home in Xenia, Ohio where he worked on the dairy farm, played in the band and was a cadet in their military cadet training program. He later served in the Air Force. Don was a truck driver for Rhiel Supply, Patterson Buckeye and retired from Berkowitz & Sons. He was known as the fish man to his many customers and friends. His faith, family and friends were most important to him. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Don loved spending time with his family and friends, getting together with his buddies for coffee and fellowship, going to church dinners and helping others. He enjoyed Country music, old cars and vacationing in Myrtle Beach and North Carolina. Don loved dogs and was always ready to rescue one. Don leaves his wife of 52 years, the former Susan Mansfield, whom he married June 9, 1962; his two children Donald (Pam) Boughner of Canfield and David Boughner of Black Mountain, North Caroline, two grandsons; Benjamin of Canfield and Townes of North Carolina, his sisters; Rita (Phil) DeCapito of Champion and Margaret Leonard of Girard. He also leaves his yellow lab Annie. Besides his parents, Don was preceded in death by a daughter Mary Grace, four sisters Francis Fecko, Irene Berard, Joanne Flannery, Wanda McCullough and three brothers Joseph, Raymond and Fred. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 4-7PM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in McDonald at 10:00 AM preceded by a prayer service at 9:30 AM at the funeral home. May you rest in peace and love, we know you are happy, joyous and free.
