Donald Parker Carner, 82, of Girard, passed away peacefully at his home on November 6, 2018, with his family by his side. Don was born March 9, 1936, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of Lyle and Edna (Leslie) Carner. He had worked for 38 ½ years for Youngstown Board of Education, as a stationary engineer, before retiring in 1989. Don was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard. Don was given a life celebration day, from Crossroads Hospice, by hosting friends and relatives and surprising Don by finding his 1929 Model A car that he had worked on for many years and sold eleven years ago. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 58 years, Carole (Bowser) Carner, whom he married October 28, 1960, his children; Sheri (Mark) Owen of Niles, and Donald A. Carner of Virginia Beach, his grandchildren; Kathryn, Amanda, Mark Jr., and Jason Owen, nieces; Rachael Vigarino, of Texas, Sheila Beadnel, of Cranberry, Pa., and Cathy Carner, of Connecticut, and nephews; Paul and Jon Carner, of Connecticut. Besides his parents Don is preceded in death by his brothers; Francis Collins, William Carner, and Jack Carner. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 9th, 11:00 AM, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Don will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery.
