Donald E Kocher

Donald E. Kocher, 77, of Liberty Twp., passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, June 24, 2016, at Northside Medical Center. Don was born May 8, 1939 in Pennsylvania, the son of Elmer R. and Mary E. Turner Kocher. Don served his country for six years in the US Navy. He had worked for General Motors as an assembler, retiring in 2004. Don attended Church Hill United Methodist Church. He was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed going to car shows and liked to bowl and golf. Don was an inspiration to all who knew him. His positive attitude and sense of humor always made others feel good about themselves, and his love for his family was immeasurable. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, the former Beverly Thomas, whom he married April 24, 1998, his children; John (Monica) Kocher of Warren, Donald (Nicole) Kocher Jr., of Austintown and Dina Sparent of Niles, his step daughters, Kimberly Sheward (Fiancé Michael Varley) of Canfield and Rhonda (Justin) Simpson of Vienna, sisters, Arlene Ramsey of PA., and Janet Kocher of Liberty Twp., brothers, James Kocher of Niles and David Kocher of Austintown, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Don is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 28th, at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. Don was laid to rest at Churchill Cemetery with military honors. The family requests any memorial contributions be made to the Animal Welfare League, 812 Youngstown-Kingsville Rd. SE.
