Douglas G Runyan

Douglas G. Runyan, 76, of Girard, passed away on Wednesday October 22, 2014 at the Hospice House.  Doug was born Feb. 18, 1938 in Youngstown, the son of Bernard and Lenora Bryan Runyan. Doug was a 1956 graduate of Girard High School. After graduation he served his country in the U.S. Army.  Doug retired in 1999 after 33 years as a fireman for the City of Girard.  He was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church in Boardman and enjoyed fishing and listening to Christian Music.  He is survived by his wife, the former Lucinda Scheafnocker, whom he married Sept. 25, 2009, his son Douglas Runyan of Greenville, SC, his daughter Tamara Jo Galasso of Canton, Georgia, brother Darrell Runyan of Houston, Texas and grandchildren Daniel, Timothy, Joshua, Noah, Rebecca, Nicholas and Elizabeth.  Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Edice Runyan and brothers Bernard and Donald Runyan.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 27th, 11:00 AM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.  Doug will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery.  The family requests any material contributions be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Doug's memory.  Visit www.blackstonefuneralhome.com to view this obituary and to send any condolences to the Runyan Family.
