Eddie L Fanto

Eddie L. Fanto, of Girard, passed away on Wednesday March 19, 2014 at his residence. He was born April 15, 1932 in Warren, Ohio, the son of Leslie Fanto and Julia Fanto Colarich.  Eddie retired from Copperweld Steel where he was a crane operator for 35 years. Eddie was also a contractor, building numerous houses and apartment complexes. He was proud to be  a 75 year member of the YMCA. He enjoyed vacationing in Spain, Mexico and Costa Rica and the many friends he made there. Eddie took pride in his family and was a wonderful and devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his daughters, Carla (John) Ferrell of Canton, Jailynne Cronin, with whom he made his home and Bambi (Hernan) Dorantes of West Palm Beach, Florida, grandchildren, Saule (Brian) Groover, Jordan, Sage and Cruz Dorantes,  two great-grandchildren, Zena and Brian Groover, brother Michael Fanto, sisters, and nieces and nephews.  He was formerly married to the late Carol Lou Gonnella  and Roseann Flarey. Eddie is preceded in death by his father Leslie Fanto, mother Julia Colarich, step-father Nick Colarich and brother Dennis Fanto.  A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday March 22nd, 11:45 am, at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. The family will recieve relatives and friends from 10:00 am until the time of service.  Eddie will be laid to rest at Niles Union Cemetery. He The family requests any material contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Eddie's memory.
