Edna Popovich, 95, of Girard, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 in the comfort of her home. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio on February 21, 1929, a daughter to the late Sam and Zarefe (Schwiery) Joseph.
A devoted homemaker by trade, Edna poured her love and dedication into creating a warm and welcoming home for her family. She had the most gentle soul, always greeted everyone with a smile and never knew a stranger.
Throughout her life, Edna found joy in simple pleasures such as tending to her garden, hosting family gatherings, and creating delicious treats in the kitchen. She enjoyed teaching her children and grandchildren the family recipes that would now be passed down generations, including her famous cheesecake. Her creativity extended beyond culinary arts to include attending craft shows with homemade works of art with her husband and growing the most beautiful foods and flowers in her garden. She always enjoyed nature watching in their expansive yard but her favorite to find was always the butterfly.
In the hearts of Edna's surviving family and friends, including her children, Barbara (Earl) Parthemer of Cortland, Helen (Jerry) Lambert of Girard, Andrew (Sandra) Popovich of Struthers, Frank (Anna) Popovich of Poland, along with 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, she will forever hold a special place. Her memory will also be kept alive by sisters, Ruth Ruscello, and Josephine Dirkson, brother, Richard Joseph and several nieces and nephews.
