Edward James Noufer Sr., 85, of Girard passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
Edward was born March 25, 1939 in Youngstown, Ohio, youngest son to Andrew and Rose (Gruver) Noufer.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Edward was a lifelong member of St. Rose Church in Girard, the Girard American Legion post 235, and GWRRA.
He enjoyed many activities like hunting with youngest son Tim, football games with son Ed Jr and motorcycle riding with daughter, Andrea.
He was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns and was an exceptional wood worker and a motorcycle enthusiast.
He took many bike trips with his friend Larry Hamity to Pike's Peak out west and to Mt Washington in Maine. One of Edwards’s greatest accomplishments was finishing the 4 Corners Tour on his motorcycle and took him 17 days to complete.
Edward leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth (Novack) Noufer, who he married April 16, 1963; They had good times and plenty of them. children, Andrea Noufer, Ed Noufer Jr. and Tim Noufer; grandchildren, Chelsea (Christian) Thoma, Hailey Noufer ,TJ Noufer, Andrew Noufer (Sydney Grinnell) and Kyle E. Noufer who he taught woodworking. He also leaves 4 great grandchildren as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents Edward is preceded in death by brothers; Andrew (Andy) Noufer and John Robert (Bob) Noufer; and sisters, Helen Rushen and Marge White.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 10th at 10:00 AM at St. Rose Church in Girard. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, January 9th from 5-8 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.
Edward will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery.
