Edward (Ted) William Thorsby

Edward William (Ted) Thorsby Sr., 86, of Liberty Twp., died Saturday February 2, 2013 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.  Ted was born March 22, 1926 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late Eugene and Laura Thorsby.  Ted had worked for Republic Steel in Youngstown as a security guard for 42 years.  He was a Sgt. in WWII serving in the China Burma India theatre.  He was a member of the Masons-St. Alban's Lodge #677 of F&AM.  Ted had been a volunteer for meals on wheels for 8 years and was a member of Church Hill United Methodist Church.  He loved photography, trips to Cape Hatteras and his dogs Spooky, Puddin and Inge.  His loving wife of 63 years, Mary Gale Thorsby, whom he married August 7, 1948 died July 13, 2011.   He is also preceded in death by his son Edward William (Teddy), Jr., sister Helen Childs and brothers Norman and Robert Thorsby.  Ted is survived by his daughters Linda F. (Craig) Megla of Novelty, Ohio, Gale L. (Dan) Kerr and Kathy L. (Ed) Gainard, both of Liberty Twp, seven grandchildren Eric (Tess) Megla, Jodi Megla, Mark Megla, Becky Kerr, Dan Kerr, Katie Gainard and Shawn Gainard and two great-grandchildren Kayla and Darcy.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 5th at 12:00 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard where the family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service.  Interment will take place at Belmont Park Cemetery.  The family wishes to thank the kind caregivers at VistaCare (Alzheimer's unit) and the special people at the ICU at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
