Edwin James Beale Jr., 86, of Mineral Ridge, passed away on Monday July 29, 2013, at his residence.  Ed was born April 3, 1927, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late, Edwin J. and Helen Bilger Beale Sr. Ed graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1945 and joined the U.S. Navy during WWII.   He was formerly employed at Julian Motor Sales in Girard, Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co., Girard Motor Sales, U.S. Steel ,Ajax Magnathermics,  and retired in 1999 from Simmers Engineering  in Canfield after 10 years. His employment at U.S. Steel gave him the opportunity to become familiar with overhead cranes, and while employed at Simmer's, his crane experience became a vaulable asset and he traveled throughout the midwest servicing cranes both mechanical and electrical.  To him work had become a challenge that he relished.  He retired at the age of 72.  Ed attended Youngstown College.  He was a member of the Youngstown Masonic Lodge #615 F&AM, the Girard Band Boosters Club  and the  Steel Workers Union.  He enjoyed golfing, fishing, Skiing and working on autos, and any other kind of motors.  Ed is survived by his wife, the former, Patricia Ruggiero, whom he married March 28, 1952, sons John Beale of Girard, Edwin J. ( Sara)  Beale III of Fairport, New York, daughters Cynthia Beale of Mineral Ridge and Jacquelyn (George) Lanterman of Mineral Ridge, and grandchildren Joshua (Kate) Beale, Daniel Beale, Danielle, Austin and Dylan Lanterman.  Preceded in death was his sister Betty Flower.  Funeral services will be held on Friday August 2nd, 11:00 AM  at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard .  The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday 5-8PM at the funeral home.
