Ella Hoagland, 85, of Girard, passed away suddenly on Friday April 11, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Ella was born July 19, 1928 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Walter and Minnie Allen. Ella had worked as a switch board operator for Ohio Bell and later retired from Mahoning Sparkle Market as a cashier. She was a member of Church Hill United Methodist Church in Liberty Twp., where she was a Sunday School Teacher and loved bible study classes. Ella was also a Past-President of the Liberty Seniors and volunteered at Liberty Schools. Ella loved spending quality time with her family, traveling with her daughter, scrapbooking and making cards for everyone, sewing, bowling and her flower gardens. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Frank E. Hoagland Sr., whom she married August 6, 1949, her daughter Beverly (John) Clinton of Liberty Twp.,her son Frank (Edeltraud) Hoagland Jr. of Germany, sister Pearl McConnell of Youngstown, grandchildren John Clinton, James (Katie) Clinton and Frank Hoagland and her great-granddaughter Ava. She is preceded in death by her sisters Ruth Slagle, Helen Keck and Jane Whalen, and her brothers Tom, Chuck and Harly Allen. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 15th, 11:00 AM, at Church Hill United Methodist Church. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 5-7PM at the Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard and also on Tuesday from 10-11AM at the church.
