Elma Jane (Haushalter) Ague

Elma Jane Ague, 92, of Girard, passed away at her home on Monday, April 1, 2019. Elma was born February 9, 1927, in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth (Biram) Haushalter. After graduating from Buchtel High School she attended the Ohio State University, where she earned a Bachelors degree in English. While attending Ohio State she met her husband of 70 years, Charles William Ague. Elma later earned a teaching certificate from YSU. She taught at Liberty and later at Austintown Fitch High School for 12 years. After retirement Elma taught English as a second language to adults. She was a member of Central Christian Church, in Warren, and Friends of the Girard Free Library. She served as a trustee to the Girard Free Library for 12 years, and had served several terms as president, and secretary to the Regional Council of Christian Church in Ohio for 5 years. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Bill, whom she married December 18, 1948, her daughters; Elizabeth Marling (Gilbert), Barbara Ague (Thomas Safford), MaryEllen Roth (Lawrence), daughter-in-law Julie Hansel (Jeff), 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son William Hunter Ague, her parents, brother Wayne Haushalter and sister Esther Allen. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, April 4th, 11:00 AM at Central Christian Church, in Warren, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
