Emma Louise (Johns) Small, 89, of Washington, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at The Village at Marymount, in Garfield Heights, Ohio, with her family by her side.
Emma was born February 2, 1935, in Washington, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Margaret Virginia Johns “Dolly” and William Johns (Kelly).
Anyone blessed to know her, knew her as a social butterfly. She especially loved socializing with her family and friends. As a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother she always had a smile to share and love to give. Her Christian faith was strong and brought her much peace and guidance throughout her life.
Her passion for children led her to a career as the Educational Coordinator with Head Start in Washington County, Pennsylvania, where she touched many lives throughout the community. Emma had a special way of developing bonds with the people she held dear that made them know they were important in her life and in her heart.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, William Small “Bill”, Vaughn Small (Stephanie Walker), Debra Small “Debbie,” and Anthony Small “Tony.” She was instrumental in raising her grandchildren (Anthony Taylor and Debra Small) although she had a special bond with each and every one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Anderson Small Jr., her brother, William Johns and a great-granddaughter.
As per Emma's wishes, there will be no public services.
