Emmett D. Fackety, 87, of Girard, passed away on Tuesday July 16, 2013, at Autumn Hills Nursing Home in Niles. Emmett was born November 13, 1925 in Warren, Ohio, the son of the late Steven and Grace Turner Fackety. He had worked for Wean United as a mechanical engineer. Emmett served in the US Navy during WWII and proudly served on the USS Bright, 747 DE., which was heavily damaged during the Pearl Harbor attack. After the war Emmett graduated from Youngstown College. He was Past-Commander of the Girard American Legion Post #235, and a member of the Youngstown Men's Garden Club. He is survived by his caregivers Peggy and Tom Davis of Girard. He is preceded in death by his wife, the former, Gladamae Herst, whom he married Sept. 19, 1945 and died March 5, 2013, and brothers Ernest Fackety and Robert Fackety. Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 19th, 10:00 AM, at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. Interment will take place at Reform Cemetery in Southington, Ohio.
