Francis Hollis, 88, of Vienna Twp., passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Northside Medical Center. Francis was born October 23, 1926 in Lincolnboro, Pennsylvania, the son of William and Nora Little Hollis. He had worked for Youngstown Sheet and Tube Co. and later for Youngstown State University in the maintenance department. Francis was an Army veteran and served his country during WWII. He served with the 63rd Field Artillery Battalion during the liberation of the Philippines and was also a recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign and Victory medals. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, the former, Mary Jane Elliott, whom he married February 14, 1948, his children; Rick (Susan) Hollis of Bazetta Twp, Barbara (Jack) Simon of Liberty Twp., and David (Gail) Hollis of Southington Twp., ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Bertha Adamson and brothers William and Roy Hollis. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 3rd, 11:00 AM at Pleasant Valley Church in Liberty Twp. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 5-7 PM at the church and also on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Francis will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any contributions be made to Wild Life Conservation, Veterans Association or Samaritans Purse in Francis' memory. Arrangements were entrusted to Blackstone Funeral Home.
