Gail Sertick, 61, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday May 12, 2024 following a long, courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). She was born in Youngstown, May 8, 1963, to Stanley and Roseann Seifert. She lived most of her life in the Youngstown area, graduating from Liberty High School in 1981 and Youngstown State University in 1988. Gail recently retired from the Social Security Administration after 30 years of service. Prior to that she worked for Bank One in Youngstown.
Gail was strong in her Christian faith. She was a lifelong member of Churchill United Methodist Church but also attended services at North Mar Church and bible studies at other local churches. Gail will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and sweet-hearted nature. She always put the interests of others before her own and went out of the way to help. Gail also had a weakness for animals – having many beloved pets through the years, most recently her dog Pepé who she shared with her fiancé Bob.
One of Gail’s passions was writing. She wrote for the Leopard’s Spot in high school, the Penguin Review in college, and continued to write poetry throughout her life, capturing her sensitivity towards life and her surroundings.
Gail will be sadly missed by her friends and family. She leaves behind her fiancé Bob Woodward, her siblings Kurt (Kathleen) Seifert, Eric Seifert, Mark Seifert, Tom (Marylynn) Seifert, and Bob (Diana) Seifert, her nephews Scott and Kurt, her beloved niece Brittney, and her grand-niece Aria, and grand-nephews Christian and Kurt. She was preceded in death by her father Stanley Seifert, her mother Roseann Myers, and her stepfather Henry (Hank) Myers.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024 at Churchill United Methodist Church in Liberty, with visitation at 4pm followed by the service at 5pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
