Genevieve Jana Loewit, 87, of McDonald, died Thursday October 17, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospital when she left to meet Lord Jesus. She was tenderly cared for at home during her illness by many friends, neighbors, medical staff, and especially her son Ronald. She was born January 19, 1926 in Salem, Ohio, the daughter of the late Pauline Ott Everstine. She was a secretary for Girard Machine for 26 years retiring in 1991. Genevieve was a member of Open Door Community Church in McDonald. She taught piano for 15 years, and directed choir for many years. She had a passion for music, sign language, light houses, antique buttons, chocolate meringue cookie, and the color green. She is survived by her sons, Dale E. (Barbara) Loewit of Boardman, Kenneth G. Loewit of Sanibel, Florida, and Ronald I. Loewit of McDonald with whom he made his home, also a sister, Geraldine Bancik of Lisbon, two grandchildren, Brandon Loewit and Brea (Jim Simpson) Loewit and three great-grandchildren, twins Evan & Elijah and Ellie Simpson. She was preceded in death by her sister, Maxine Wallace, her brother Charles W. Everstine who was a USN Commander, a great- grandson, Ezra Simpson, sister-in-law, Cecelia Everstine, brother-in-laws, Paul Bancik and Earl Wallace, nephew, and a Steven Bancik. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday October 23, at 8:00 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm till time of service. Interment will take place at Green Haven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations and/or food donations can be made to the Open Door Community Church, 525 Marshall Rd., McDonald, Ohio 44437.
