George Balog, 85, of Liberty Twp., passed away Sunday morning, October 25, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. George was born May 8, 1930 in Warren, Ohio, the son of Demetri and Helen Siefer Balog. He graduated from Warren Harding High School in 1948 and joined the Army in 1949, where he attended officers Training School and was honorably discharged in June of 1952. George married, the former, Mary Orsini, in October of 1957. George retired from Packard Electric in 1991. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Girard. George is survived by his wife, Mary; three sons, George M. (Shirley) Balog of Aurora, James A. (Pam) Balog of Cincinnati and Kenneth E. (Suzann) Balog of Richmond VA., a sister, Margret DeJacimo; seven grandchildren, Alexandra, Michael, Brett, Nicholas, Tara, Jeffrey, Ashley, and two great-grandchildren, Ellie and Lucas. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mary Peck and Helen Costello. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 29th, 11:00 AM, at St. Rose Church. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 5-7 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home. George will be laid to rest at Churchill Cemetery with military honors.
