George A. Karabin, 78, of Girard, died Friday September 19, 2014 at his residence. He was born July 19, 1936 in Youngstown, the son of the late Jack & Esther Caroline Karabin. He served in the Navy Reserves for 8 years. He worked for Strohs as a beer driver for twenty nine years and Tri-County for five years retiring in 1994. . He was a member of St. Rose Church, Saxton Club branch 30 in Austintown and was also on the Saxton Club golf league. George enjoyed golfing, spending time traveling with his wife after retirement and enjoyed spending time at home with his family. He leaves to cherish his wife the former Matilda "Millie" Fata whom he married September 12, 1959, children, George (Tracy) Karabin of Niles, Cindy (Bryan) Mayer of Pickerington, Ohio, John Karabin of Conneaut and Karey (John) Finney of Port Charlotte, Florida, sister, Mary Esther of Lowellville, twin brother, Paul Karabin of Hubbard, grandchildren, Thomas and Rocco Karabin, Alex and Delaney Mayer, Michael and Jonathan Karabin and Casey and Nichole Finney, great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Latham and Malcolm, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas Karabin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday September 24, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. Rose Church preceded by a prayer service at 10:30 am at Blackstone Funeral Home. Family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 5-8 pm at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. George will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
