George L. Somple

George L. Somple, 90, of Liberty Twp., passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020 at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home in Warren. George was born October 31, 1929 in Girard, Ohio, the son of John and Margaret (Kohler) Somple. He graduated from Youngstown College with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree, and retired from Erie Railroad as an inspector after 48 years. He was a member of St. Rose Church. George was an outdoors man and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children; John M. (Lauren) Somple, of Bath, Ohio, Mary Clemons, of Aurora, Ohio, Darice (Jeff) Jay, of Girard, Neysa (Chris) Gaskins, of Bainbridge, Ohio, Margaret (Tim) Hotz, of Butler, Ohio, and Collette (Rich) Sheely, of Bainbridge, Ohio, sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, George is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Joan (Rees) Somple, three brothers and seven sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 4th, 11:00 AM  at St. Rose Church, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. George will be laid to rest next to his wife at Belmont Park Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Shepherd Foundation at 5525 Silica Rd. Austintown, Ohio 44515 in his memory.
