Gloria A. Gustafan, 89, passed away on Monday, April, 18, 2016. She was born on July 31, 1926 in Girard, the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Simeone. Gloria was a loving wife and mother, totally immersed in the lives of her family, friends, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a devout homemaker with a passion for her tradition of Italian cooking; hosting weekly dinners for family and friends throughout her life. She was active for many years as a leader in the school PTA, supporting her children’s activities. Gloria was an active member in her church, directing a variety of charitable events, social functions and programs that enhanced the wellness of her community. Gloria was a self-taught pianist and organist, routinely performing her renditions of contemporary and gospel music for her family, as well as within her church. Through generations of raising her family, Gloria had always maintained a home and gathering place for her numerous friends and family, and her friends always knew to show up at the requisite “5:15” dinner time to enjoy one of her abundant home cooked meals. She leaves to cherish in her memory those who preceded her in death; husband, Paul Gustafan, whom she married on November 1, 1948, and their son, Greg Gustafan. Her loss is deeply shared by her existing family, Patricia (Steve) Baker, Linda Bennie, Pauline McPaul, and Paul G. Jr (Ayla) Gustafan; sister Suzanne Berry; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Private services were held at Churchill Cemetery.
