GIRARD – Harold “Dick” O’Neill, 92, died Friday, April 26, 2013, at Briarfield Manor at the Ridge.
He was born Feb. 16, 1921, in Youngstown, the son of the late James and Marie Kuhns O’Neill.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, having served in the 22nd Depot Repair Squadron of the 86th Air Depot Group in England and France.
Harold worked for Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co.- LTV for  27 years, first as a machinist and then as a planner in the maintenance planning department, retiring in 1977. During that same time period he also worked as a carpenter for Ken Dravis Construction. After his retirement from Sheet and Tube, Harold worked for Kaiser Aluminum in Heath, Ohio. He enjoyed reading and astronomy.
Harold is survived by his wife, the former Marlene E. Allen Smail, whom he married Aug. 2, 1971; his children, Janice (Jim) Graygo of Cape Coral, Fla., Carol J. (Nick) Genova of Niles, JoAnn (Bill) Tumpak of Bellefontaine, Richard (Linda) O’Neill of Niles, and also Marlene Smail of Girard, Karen Joiner of Girard, Melvin Smail of Youngstown and Allen Smail of Frazyburg; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, James, Eugene and Joseph O’Neill; and sister Marie Andersack.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 2, at 11 a.m. at the Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.
Interment will follow at Girard City Cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from   5 to 8 p.m. and also on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
