Herma W. Carpenter, 82, of Girard, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2016 at O'Brien Memorial. Herma was born June 21, 1933 in Soldier, Kentucky, a daughter of Marvin and Mable Calihan Gregory. Herma was a homemaker who enjoyed the outdoors; to include gardening and walking. Herma is survived by her sons Dennis (Pamela) Carpenter Jr. of Liberty Twp and Edwin (Angela) E. Carpenter of Transfer, Pennsylvania. Herma's surviving siblings are her sisters Lucille Johnson and Juanita Hanshaw, and her brothers, Robert, Glen, Woody, and Larry Gregory. Grandchildren are Adam (Christy) Carpenter, Drew (Mel) Carpenter, and Alyssa (Steve) Schroeder. Great grandchildren are Mallory and Lauren Schroeder. Besides her parents, Herma was preceded in death by her husband Dennis H. Carpenter Sr., whom she married October 30, 1951 and died April 16, 2000, her brothers, Charles and Russell, and an infant sister Wanda. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 23rd, 12 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
