Irene Parisi Pagano, loving wife of the late Guy Pagano, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Irene was born February 1, 1935, a daughter of Anthony and Carmella Parisi. Girard, Ohio became Irene's home after marrying Guy Pagano in Roccalumera, Sicily on Valentine's Day in 1953. She was a devoted member of St. Rose Church in Girard. In the early years, she worked as a seamstress for her and her husband's business, Pagano's Cleaners, and then worked at Benada Aluminum. Later, she babysat for many children who will never forget their time with "Aunt Irene". She was a hard worker, but her favorite job was dedicating her life to helping and caring for others. She loved to cook and teach others to cook. Besides socializing over a cup of coffee with friends and family, her passions were taking care of her indoor plants and her outdoor garden and marathon shopping. Irene was a devoted member of St. Rose Parish in Girard. She was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, the Mt. Carmel Society and the Sons of Italy. Irene leaves her daughters; Marylu (James) Ralls, Angela (Glenn) Moore, Laurie (David) Raver and Janet (Richard) Russell, grandchildren Alex and Jana Creel of Baytown, Texas, sister Lena Parisi of Sicily and brother Paul (Mary) Parisi, both of Roccalumera, Sicily, brother Joseph (Rose) Parisi of Girard, sister Mary (Joseph) Montevideo of Niles, brother-in-laws Sam (Dahlia) Pagano and Andrew (Millie) Petrella, both of Girard, brother-in-law James Petrella and sister-in-law Angela (Felix) Bevilacqua She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Guy, who passed away just three months ago and mother-in-law Maria Pagano Petrella, whom she shared a home with for over 50 years in Girard. In addition, she is preceded in death by her parents and brother Frank Parisi of Roccalumera, Sicily. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday June 17th, 11:00 am at St. Rose Church preceded by a prayer service at 10:30 am at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 5-8pm at the funeral home. Irene will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery.
