James "Bruce" Painter, 88, of Indiana, formerly of Girard, passed away on October 22, 2019, in Noblesville, Indiana. Bruce was born April 30, 1931 in Butler, PA., the son of the late Dwight and Mildred (McCall) Painter. Bruce proudly served his country in the Navy from 1948 to 1950. Bruce had worked for General Fireproofing and retired from General Motors in 1982 in quality control. Bruce later moved to Indiana to be with his family. Bruce was a member of Girard Senior Citizens, former member of Vienna Rod & Gun Club, Salem Hunting Club, and a member of the N.R.A. Bruce was a also a member of U.A.W #112. Bruce leaves to cherish his memory his son, John D. (June) Painter from Carmel,Indiana, grandchildren; Brian (Shannon) Painter and Scott (Emily) Painter and great grandchildren; Andrew, Cameron, Evelyn, Clara and Vivian. Bruce is preceded in death by his wife, Colleen (McCandless) Painter whom he married September 23, 1957and died Novemeber 3,2011. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 26th, 4:00 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 PM until the time of service.
