James E. Simon, 82, of McDonald, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. James was born September 18, 1937, in Campbell, Ohio, the son of Joseph and Kathryn (Rivalsky) Simon. James had served his country in the U.S. Army. He then worked for Schwebels Bakery for 24 years in their maintenance department, retiring in 1999, and had worked for several gas stations as a mechanic also. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and was an avid bowler, spent time watching and feeding birds, and enjoyed camping with his family. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 52 years, Patricia L. (Martin) Simon, whom he married October 21, 1967, his children, Lisa (Ron) Pratt of McDonald, Linda Hunt of Liberty, and James M. Simon, of McDonald, his brothers, Joseph(Wanda) Simon of McDonald and Michael(Rita) Simon, of Lowellville, his sister-in-law Phyllis, and grandchildren Cody, and Dylan Hunt, and Abby and Emily Pratt. Besides his parents, his is preceded in death by his sister, Doris Toth and brother, Robert Simon. Due to the current health conditions of the state, a private Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, followed by his interment at Resurrection Cemetery. A Celebration of Life, in memory of James, will be held at Adventure Bound Camp Grounds (559 E. Crestview Dr. Transfer, PA 16154) on September 19, 2021 at 1:00 PM. The family asks that masks be worn and Covid-19 protocol of social distancing is followed.
