James "Pete" H Maloy Jr.

James H. "Pete" Maloy Jr., 75, of Girard, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 20, 2015.  Pete was born July 24, 1939 in Elco, Pa., the son of the late James H. and Edna Furlong Maloy Sr.  Pete retired in 1999 from General Motors, as a forklift operator, after 33 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Girard and the Rod and Gun Club.  Pete was a Boy Scout and later a Boy Scout Leader for his sons. He enjoyed bowling and had bowled for GM League on Wednesday nights at Wedgwood Lanes and also on a Mixed Couples League with his wife.  Pete was involved in baseball and softball with his children and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates fan.  He was an Army veteran and had served during the " Bay of Pigs".  He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, the former, Judith Oglethorpe, whom he married July 1, 1961, his children; Jeffrey D. (Shirley) Maloy Sr., of Austintown, James H. (Betty) Maloy III of Warren and Julie Maloy of Girard, brothers; Elverson Furlong of Allenport, Pa., John Maloy of North Jackson and Ralph Maloy of Warren, grandchildren; Jeffrey Jr., Justin and Stephanie and two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Aaron.  He is preceded in death by his brothers Donald and Edward Maloy.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 24th, 11:00 AM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 6-8PM at the funeral home.  Pete will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery.  The family wishes to thank Senior Independence, especially Heidi Moyers and Samantha Nelson, for their kind and compassionate care that was given to Pete.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests any material contributions be made to Multiple Sclerosis, Team" We're Still S'myelin", in c/o any Huntington National Bank in Pete's memory.
