Janice E (Price) Thomas

Janice Elizabeth (Price) Thomas, 82, of Girard, passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at her home. Janice was born October 19, 1933, in Niles, Ohio, the daughter of the late Raymond and Mildred S. (Poorman) Price. Janice was a 1951 graduate of Rayen High School and then worked at Ohio Bell as a long distance supervisor from 1951-1963. She was a member of Open Door Community Church in McDonald since1984, and was previously a member of the First Christian Church in Girard, where she had taught Sunday school. She was also a member of Girard Junior Women's Club, where she was Past-President, the Loose Knit Group of the Davis Center at Mill Creek Park, where she crocheted afghans, and the Girard Food Pantry in the 80s. Janice and her husband John built a cottage at Genvea on the Lake where they spent many wonderful years with their family and friends. She always enjoyed Christmas, decorating the house to perfection and making Christmas ornaments. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 55 years, John O. Thomas, whom she married February 11, 1961; son John E. (Beth) Thomas, of Brunswick, Ohio; daughter Jill A. (Donald) Neighbors of Ontario, Ohio; her grandchildren, Samantha Christine Thomas, Ashley Elizabeth Neighbors, Eric John Thomas and Alexa Shae Neighbors; sisters, Patricia Orechoneg of Liberty Twp., and Judy Mirone of Mineral Ridge, Ohio; her special niece, Jennifer Ludt Franzese of N. Fort Myers, FL, special nephew, Doug Ludt of Boardman and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Joann Ludt; and brothers, Neil and Fred Price. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 21st, at 11:00 am at Blackstone Funeral Home. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 2-5 PM at the funeral home. Janice will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
