John Bell

A memorial service will be held October 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Blackstone’s Funeral Home
672 Churchill Road in Girard, Ohio for John A. Bell, 57, of Niles, Ohio who passed away at
St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Youngstown on September 23, 2016.  Mr. Bell was born October 14,
1958 in Youngstown, the son of Andrew and Elizabeth J. Bell.  He was a 1977 graduate of
Girard High School and was later employed in the Girard School System as a part-time custodian.
John was an avid sports fan and supporter of the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and the Mahoning
Valley Scrappers.  He enjoyed reading, especially on historical subjects such as the Civil War and
World War II and traveled to various sites connected with Civil War history.  Mr. Bell was a member
of the Girard First United Methodist Church, The Girard Lions Club, and the Sons of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by a sister, Sharon A. Conway, of Girard.

Friends may call for 1 hour before the service.  In place of flowers, a contribution may be made to the
Church memorial fund or to Hospice of the Valley.  Ms. Conway would like to thank the nursing staff of
St. Elizabeth’s, Select Specialty, and Hospice for their great care, compassion, and kindness during John’s illness.
