John “Duke” Komlanc, 84, of McDonald, passed away suddenly on September 12, 2019, at his residence. Duke was born May 24, 1935, in Girard, Ohio, the son of Joseph and Barbara (Sipusic) Komlanc. Duke had served his country in the US Air Force. He had worked for US Steel McDonald Works and retired from General Electric. Duke was a member of SNPJ Lodge and the IFH Club, in Girard. He enjoyed playing bocce, going to the casino’s playing the slot machines, horse racing, and going to Geneva-on-the-Lake with his wife. He leaves to cherish his memory his children; Tammy Vukovich, of McDonald and Joseph (Kelli) Komlanc, of Niles, and his grandchildren; Sydney and Michael Vukovich, and Joseph and Leighton Komlanc. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret “Margie” Kay Leighton , who died on March 13, 2019, his sister, Rose Ris, and his brother Joseph Komlanc. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 16th, 12:00 PM, at Blackstone Funeral Home, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Duke will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery, next to his wife. The family suggests any memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, in his memory.
