John L. "Stoogie" Siciliano, 98, formerly of Liberty Township, passed away on Friday February 28, 2025 at Omni Manor in Youngstown. John was born March 4, 1926 in Youngstown, Ohio the son of Augustine and Anna (Germano) Siciliano. John entered the US Navy during WWII. He was a graduate of Chaney High School where he played football. John went to YSU and graduated with his Bachelors degree. He worked at US Steel as security and also taught at Youngstown North High School. He coached basketball as well. In his spare time he loved reading, watching old movies, listening to music, mowing grass, he was a excellent boxer and enjoyed going for walks with his dogs.
John leaves to cherish his memory his daughter-in-law Alice Siciliano, and grandson Joel Siciliano, of St. Augustine along with many nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by his wife Anne "Bae" (Pezzulo) Siciliano who he married in October of 1950 and loved faithfully to her passing in 2023. He is also preceded in death by his son Dr. Frank Siciliano who passed in 2016, sisters Christine and Mary, and brothers Paddy, Tony, Rocky and Jim.
Private services will be held on Thursday March 6th at 10:30 AM at Blackstone Funeral Home with military honors. John will be laid to rest next to his wife at Tod Homestead Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to West Side Cats in honor of John.
